2 Chronicles 20:3 (NASB) Part 2 of 4

When Jehoshaphat heard that three armies were on their way to destroy him and his people, the Bible informs us that he was afraid. 2 Chronicles 20:3 (NASB) ‘…Jehoshaphat was afraid…’ Fear is one of Satan’s devices to create confusion in our lives- When we find ourselves in difficult situation, fear can blind us to make wrong decisions that we may regret later. But here without thinking twice Jehoshaphat knew exactly what to do because the latter part of the verse reads; ‘…and turned his attention to seek the Lord …’ This is always the first step toward winning any fight over the devil – The prophet says; “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” (Isaiah 26:3 (ESV) Let God be the first on our mind when facing a crisis Because Jehoshaphat sought God first, the battle was already won. Although he feared the oncoming calamity he knew what to do and where to go. Isaiah 41:10 ‘Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ Arnold Neuhoff, in one of his brain power seminars, mentions that if we want to break a bad habit we need to refrain from doing it about fourteen times. In the same way, when attempting to adopt a good habit we need to force ourselves into action about fourteen times. So this coming week, let us adopt this habit of putting God first … • In the morning, afternoon and evening, praying, reading and contemplating for a few minutes • When fear, discouragement, despair and doubt visits us • When making a decision • Before responding to someone who upsets us • Before judging a person • When planning our budget • When negative thoughts seem to overwhelm us • By not letting the sun set in anger over a dispute in a marriage/family May God bless and strengthen us in our endeavour this week. Wishing all those joining us for camp meeting a safe and enjoyable journey. God bless
