Season Greetings

Festive Season

We have arrived at that time of year again when normal life gives way to festive fun and feasting. My prayer is that in the midst of enjoying our rest and spending our well-deserved bonus, we will endeavor to bring joy to someone’s life with whatever means we can spare. We are surrounded by the unemployed, the disabled and street children.

Please just close your eyes for a minute and imagine yourself standing in your kitchen, you open the cupboards and the fridge and emptiness stares back at you. In desperation you search every nook and cranny in your house for lost money, to no avail. Many are experiencing this. Jesus says, “What you are doing for them, you are doing for Me.” (Matt. 25:40) I grew up in a family of nine siblings with my mother being the only provider.

Things weren’t always easy, too many mouths to feed, too many bodies to clothe, and I am so thankful that the church came to our rescue during this season. I still see myself in that ‘kortbroek suit’ donated by the welfare department.

Even though we as Adventists don’t celebrate Christmas, let us not forget the reason for the season. God gave… The world is waiting for the sons and daughters of God to be revealed. Let’s praise our heavenly Father for the way He has led in us this year, give Him thanks and praise for all of his goodness and wonderful blessings which He has bestowed upon us.

My prayer is that we may experience only peace and joy this holiday season. Please drive safe.

God bless
